According to Reddit user Malfunctionlapse the two new menu items are being widely tested at Taco Bell restaurants in the Knoxville area.

Almost all the stores have the test promotion 30 miles within Knoxville. 611 Emory Road, Powell, TN

While Crispy Chicken Chips were unofficially revealed by a Reddit user earlier this year, Volcano Crispy Chicken Chips appear to be an upgrade, or a revamp of the original.

Volcano Crispy Chicken Chips feature triangular-shaped marinated all-white meat chicken with a spicy coating, and come served with a side of Lava Sauce for dipping. A six pack with one dip sells for $1.99, while a 12 pack with two dips is available for $3.99 (That’s not actually a deal – do the math). Not a Lava Sauce fan? No worries, Nacho Cheese and Spicy Ranch Sauces are also available. Take your pick, but whatever you do, don’t blow your topping.

The Volcano Chickstar is basically just a new take on the Original Chickstar with Volcano Crispy Chicken Chips. The Volcano Chickstar sells for $2.99.

If you happen to have a hunger on, you can pick up a Volcano Crispy Chicken Chips Big Box deal, where you get six Volcano Crispy Chicken Chips, a Crunchy Taco, a Burrito Supreme, Cinnamon Twists and a medium drink, all for just $5. That’s more than enough spice to cause an unwanted eruption, if you know what I mean.

I’m expecting to see Crispy Chicken Chips in one form or another on Taco Bell national menus during the first quarter of 2017.
