The new Freeze is basically just an upgrade of the brand’s popular Mountain Dew Baja Blast Freeze with the addition of real Pop Rocks Candy. The “slushie” as some fans will refer to it is currently being tested at Taco Bell’s Irvine, California location. If you happen to be in the area, you can pick one up for $2.49. If not, you can always get inventive and add your own Pop Rocks Candy to an original Mountain Dew Baja Blast Freeze. Not the same I know, but it’s the only other viable option, aside from making a trip to Irvine.

But is the new Poppin’ Candy Mountain Dew Baja Blast Freeze just another gimmick or do Pop Rocks Candy actually take this popular Freeze flavor to a better level? Personally, I’m not convinced that novelty items like this have the legs to make it on national menus – at least not for any real length of time. For me, this is the type of item I might be inclined to buy once, but as far as going back for more – not so much.

But how does Ian K. over at Peep THIS Out! feel about the new Freeze flavor?  As you can see from the image above, Ian was able to snag one for his most recent YouTube review. Ian actually gives this a fantastic rating, much higher than I had expected, to be perfectly honest. Did Ian suffer from a brain freeze or an unintented sugar high? There’s only one way to find out – check out his complete review below, and you be the judge.
