Chipotle is considering removing chorizo from the menu, as well as other underperforming items to make room for new additions.
According to Business Insider, the brand started testing new replacements, such as queso dip at hundreds of select U.S. locations.
While chorizo itself is a relatively new menu item, introduced nationwide just last October, the spicy chicken-and-pork sausage blend is the least favorite protein on the menu among Chipotle fans, accounting for just three percent of entrée sales.
Chipotle is also considering other new menu items as well, including spring mix salad with avocado citrus dressing, frozen margaritas as updates to their line of non-alcoholic beverages, Business Insider reports.
