After a successful test run in select locations, Chipotle announced Tuesday that it will be adding queso to its menu nationwide on Tuesday, September 12.

The company said it decided to take queso national after testing it in 350 restaurants in Southern California and the Colorado area.
Chipotle’s all-natural queso gets its complex and slightly spicy flavor from a combination of simple ingredients such as aged cheddar cheese, tomatillos, tomatoes and several varieties of peppers.
Prices will vary by city, but range from a suggested price of $1.25 to add queso to an entrée, to $5.25 for a large side order with chips.
No official word yet on the fate of “underperforming” menu items like Chorizo, which is rumored to be on the chopping block in favor of new menu items like queso.
