The regional-inspired flavor features a blend of popular southern sweet and smoky BBQ sauce recipes from Memphis and the Carolinas.

KFC’s version on the iconic southern mainstay features a touch of vinegar “to please North Carolinians,” a little bit of sweetness “for the Kansas City-style faithful” and a crispiness “that even Memphis dry rub fans will appreciate.”

Smoky Mountain BBQ joins the brand’s southern-inspired flavor lineup, which includes spicy and smoky Nashville Hot Fried Chicken, and sweet and tangy Georgia Gold honey mustard BBQ as part of KFC’s Taste of the South menu lineup.

Rolling out nationwide on Monday, January 29, KFC Smoky Mountain BBQ will be available at participating locations in Extra Crispy Tenders, Chicken Littles and Extra Crispy Chicken.

Individual Smoky Mountain BBQ basket meals will also be available with three Extra Crispy Tenders or two pieces of Extra Crispy Chicken, mashed potatoes, gravy and a biscuit for a suggested price of $4.99.

KFC first tested Smoky Mountain BBQ fried chicken last summer in select Indianapolis, Chicago and Pittsburgh locations.
