The Friday event will run from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. at a White Castle in Cincinnati and will be broadcast live on Periscope.

The WKRP in Cincinnati “Turkeys Away” episode that originally aired in 1978 was ranked number 40 on TV Guide’s ‘100 Greatest Episodes of All Time’ list in 1997. The episode was based on a real event that happened at WQXI, the station many of the WKRP characters were based on.

In the episode, Mr. Carlson decides to take a more hands-on managerial approach by doing the greatest Thanksgiving promotion in radio history – dropping live turkeys from a helicopter.

White Castle will be giving fifteen contestants the opportunity to drop Turkey Sliders from the Crave Copter onto various targets displayed on a Thanksgiving-themed table. Each target is worth a different prize value – from White Castle gift cards to one grand prize – free Sliders for one year.

If you want to take part, get there early, because the first five people to show up for the game will be automatically entered to play. Random draws will be held to determine the remaining ten.

If you’re unable to be there in person, that’s not going to be a problem. You will still have an opportunity to participate.

Cravers in and outside of Cincinnati who can’t attend the event will be invited to participate online via Twitter and can follow along on Periscope VIA @whitecastle. Virtual contestants will be paired with live contestants for a chance to win prizes.

White Castle launched its new turkey menu items earlier this week.
