Miami-Dade Police say Devin Gibbs, 23, of Miami has been taken into custody.
The incident started after an argument over food escalated into gunfire with one man shooting another, according to NBC6.
The shooter, who reportedly used a small handgun, caused a panic inside the restaurant.
“Me and my girlfriend were behind them and they were arguing and talking.” That’s when the witness heard one man say “I will kill you right here,” NBC6 reported.
According to Miami-Dade police, Ledea Phillip, 65, was shot in the left arm, but refused treatment after he was transported to the Jackson Memorial Hospital.
Police say Gibbs was charged aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, carrying a concealed weapon and shooting into a building.
The restaurant’s owner released the following statement:
“Our first priority is always the safety of our customers and employees. As this is an active police investigation, we ask that you contact the Miami-Dade County Police Department for additional details.”
