The burger was purchased in a McDonald’s restaurant in the Sydney, Australia area, according to the Facebook post.

Hantzis told the Daily Mail that when she noticed the mold on the bun her boyfriend took a picture and returned it to the counter.

“We didn’t really get an apology or anything, they just made a fresh one. But there was another burger on the counter ready to be served with mould on it as well,” Hantzis said.

McDonald’s is investigating the issue and will respond to the complaint within 10 days.

“McDonald’s takes food quality seriously and issues like this are rare. We are disappointed this has happened and are investigating with the restaurant,” the Daily Mail quoted a spokesperson for the company as saying.
