Michael Symon’s Lolita restaurant in Cleveland suffers significant fire damage

A fire that caused significant damage at Michael Symon’s Lolita restaurant in Cleveland started near an over, according to investigators.

As for the cause, Symon wrote on Twitter: “they (investigators) are still looking..they believe it started in a wall then went to roof..but investigating cause.”

Although the official cause of the fire remains under investigation the Cleveland Fire Department said investigators have no reason to suspect arson, Cleveland.com reported.

Symon took to Facebook to thank friends and fans for making one of his worst days in recent memory bearable.

A message on the restaurant’s website reads as follows:

Closed Until Further Notice

Due to a fire, Lolita is closed until further notice. We apologize for any inconveniences and hope to reopen as soon as possible. Please visit our other Cleveland area restaurant locations. Thank you to the Cleveland Fire Department for their quick response and professionalism.

Symon wrote the following to his fans and friends on Facebook Sunday:

“thank you everyone for kind thoughts about Lolita fire…most importantly staff is safe & unharmed…damage to restaurant appears to be pretty significant but we will be back strong that I can promise you!…last but certainly not least thank you to the Cleveland fire department who acted swiftly and limited damage as much as possible..much much admiration for the job you do daily…thank you, Michael”
