It was widely suspected as being a hoax, and now two animal protection organizations from Germany and the US have claimed responsibility for a viral video about a restaurant that served cat and dog meat to customers.

Today, the US-based Beyond Carnism and the German Vegetarian Union (VEBU) claimed responsibility for the video.
Uploaded by multiple social media outlets and picked up by press in 25 countries on four continents, the group behind the video says it incited public outrage and has even led to death threats.
The groups said around ten million people around the world saw the video on a variety of social media platforms.
The group used a silicone cat for the shock video.
