McDonald’s was left scrambling this morning as Taco Bell fired a shot across the bow of the burger chain in what could be just the beginning of an ugly, but tasty, fast food breakfast war.

Thursday morning, Taco Bell surprised everyone with the announcement that the chain is offering a new $1 breakfast menu nationwide.

Taco Bell’s new $1 Morning Value Menu features 10 breakfast items for just a dollar each. The new promotion also features some new breakfast items.

“While dollar menus disappear across America, Taco Bell is continuing to reinvent breakfast with delicious and unique menu items only Taco Bell can provide, with 10 items for $1 each,” Taco Bell’s Chief Marketing Officer, Marisa Thalberg said in a statement.

The new $1 Morning Value Menu contains three brand new items with a twist, including:

  • Mini Skillet Bowl: Features seasoned breakfast potatoes, fluffy scrambled eggs, warm melty cheese and freshly-prepared Pico de Gallo, served in a bownl.
  • Breakfast Soft Taco: Features a warm flour tortilla filled with fluffy scrambled eggs, your choice of flavorful bacon or delicious sausage and real cheddar cheese.
  • Sausage Flatbread Quesadilla: Features a pillowy flatbread filled with a three cheese blend, sausage, and fluffy scrambled eggs, grilled to seal in all the flavors.

The new items join the chain’s existing breakfast items, including the Grilled Breakfast Burrito, available with your choice of Bacon, Sausage or Fiesta Potato, Hash Brown, Cinnabon Delights 2 Pack and Mountain Dew Kickstart Orange Citrus.
