This is not an early April Fools’ day prank. Krispy Kreme Doughnuts is giving away free Original Glazed doughnuts on April 1 to celebrate the doughnut harvest.

Well, maybe it is a prank, but the free doughnut is real.
Every day, guests around the world come to Krispy Kreme to enjoy the fresh, sweet-tasting doughnuts we’ve cultivated expressly for their delight.
Cultivated, we say, because each year the Doughnut Harvest yields hundreds of thousands of bushels of doughnettes—each one carefully nurtured from a doughnut seedling, then individually selected by our master doughnut growers at the peak of freshness—which are then brought into our shops for final glazing or hand-decorating.
This year, on account of the unusually fair winter, the Doughnut Harvest was especially bountiful. Now, for the first time, the surplus is so great we are inviting guests everywhere to join us in celebration.
On April 1, participating Krispy Kreme Doughnuts shops nationwide will be handing out free Original Glazed doughnuts to celebrate this year’s successful doughnut harvest.
Krispy Kreme is encouraging fans to share their treat on social media by using the hashtag #DoughnutHarvest.
