According to CNBC, the new apple pie will feature a new lattice top crust and an entirely new filling. That new filling will be made using five varieties of thick-sliced apples, rather than the six varieties of diced apples currently being used.

Old-fashioned apple pie

“Our culinary team wanted to provide customers with an old-fashioned apple pie with homemade taste and aroma to match,” CNBC quoted Becca Hary, a spokeswoman for McDonald’s as saying.

If testing goes well, it’s probably fair to suggest that McDonald’s will launch the new baked, not fried, apple pie nationwide.
