Krispy Kreme has teamed up with the Cheerwine, a cherry-flavored soda popular in the south, to create a new soda with a doughnut twist: Cheerwine Kreme Soda.

Cheerwine describes the new soda as tasting like Cheerwine “with a hint of Krispy Kreme’s Original Glazed flavor.” Let’s put it to the test.

The Carpetbagger is not a fan. He describes the flavor as tasting like “Carbonated Cake Frosting.” It gets worse.

OSX Kryptic on the other hand loves it, saying “it’s really, really good.” He gives it a 5 out of 5. You just know he’s going back for more.

Glenn Pitcher over at 98.1 The Hawk took the Cheerwine Kreme challenge and failed miserably. After basically blind tasting regular Cheerwine and Cheerwine Kreme – Pitcher was unable to correctly pick out the Cheerwine Kreme.

Cheerwine Kreme Soda Availability

As it currently stands, Cheerwine Kreme Soda is only available at retailers in North Carolina, South Carolina and Savannah, Georgia. For those of you in the area, you can find Cheerwine Kreme Soda at Bi-Lo, Food Lion, Harris Teeter, Ingles, Kroger, and Lowes Foods.

For those of you not in the area, you can order a 6-pack of 20oz bottles online for $7.50. Just be aware that you can expect to pay at least 2 to 3 times the cost of one 6-pack for shipping – depending on your location.
