At first I thought it was a cruel joke, or perhaps I was just dreaming again. Whatever it was, I was convinced it wasn’t true. But I was dead wrong. The Liquor Control Board of Ontario (LCBO) is taking booze sales online, with an option to have purchased products delivered to your home by Canada Post.

Here’s the best part. LCBO.com will have about 5,000 products available online, which is going to make for a fantastic online shopping experience for us beer guys. Ladies, wine, they have lots of it and the selection is as diverse as it is eclectic, including wines from British Columbia and Quebec.

Exclusive Products Online Only

Among those 5,000 products, about 800 will be exclusive to the LCBO.com. Which means you won’t find any of them at the brick and mortar LCBO stores.

Once you’ve placed, and paid for your order online, you’ll have to decide whether to have your purchase delivered to your home, for a fee, or to pick it up at a LCBO store of your choice, for free.

Canada Post is handling all alcohol deliveries for a fee of $12, on a minimum order of $50. You’ll also have to show a valid identification at the door.
