Domino’s selected New Zealand as the launch market because the country’s regulations encourage businesses to embrace unmanned aircraft opportunities.

The demonstration was the final step in Flirtey’s approval process, following which Domino’s and Flirtey will aim to connect people with pizza via government approved trial store-to-door drone deliveries later this year.

Pizza delivery by drone is designed to work seamlessly with Domino’s current delivery fleet and will be fully integrated into online ordering and GPS systems.

Domino’s plans to offer drone delivery specials when trials launch later this year.
