If you’re not familiar with Subway’s new Corned Beef Reuben, it features the chain’s corned beef with Bavarian-style sauerkraut, Thousand Island dressing, and melted Swiss cheese, all on your choice of bread.

YouTube food reviewer Nicholas Whitfield over at Whitfield’s Food Revue had planned to review both new Reuben sandwiches, but Subway mixed-up Nicholas’ online order, leaving him holding the bag with two 6-inch Corned Beef Reuben sandwiches, as opposed to one of each new sandwiches. Nicholas didn’t notice the error until after arriving home.

All that aside, does Subway’s version of the Reuben hit the mark on this classic American sandwich?

The short answer is no. Although the rye bread and Swiss cheese hit the mark on taste, the corned beef was on the bland side and the sauerkraut was almost non-existent. Meanwhile the Thousand Island dressing was abundant, and overpowered the overall flavor experience.

Check out Nicholas’ full review below for his overall thoughts on Subway’s new Corned Beef Reuben and whether you should take a pass, or give it a try.
