Krispy Kreme’s Chocolate Hazelnut Kreme Donut is a Nutella-inspired creation filled with chocolate hazelnut Kreme, dipped in Nutella and finished with a candied hazelnut topping plus a double drizzle of chocolate and white icing.

It’s interesting to note that the Chocolate Hazelnut Kreme Donut is taking a backseat to Krispy Kreme’s other Nutella-themed offering – the Nutty Cocoa Ring Donut – as far as marketing is concerned. But I digress.
Eric, aka TheEndorsement, picked one up at his local Krispy Kreme shop for $1.69. I’ve also heard reports that some shops are selling the donut for $1.59.
In any event, the big sell here of course is Nutella, Nutella, Nutella. But does the Chocolate Hazelnut Kreme Donut live up to all the Nutella hype? Although the new limited-time donut is dipped in Nutella, you’re going to be disappointed if you were expecting to bite into a Nutella-flavored filling.
As Eric points out in his review, the chocolate hazelnut Kreme filling works well with the Nutella and candied hazelnuts, but it’s not the Nutella flavor “overload” he was hoping for. Despite that, Eric gives the new Chocolate Hazelnut Kreme Donut high marks for its unique flavor profile and its filling, which is plentiful – but it’s not Nutella.
