Beginning Monday, July 31, 2017, Indianapolis will become the main testing ground for KFC’s newest regionally-inspired fare: Smoky Mountain BBQ Chicken.
Smoky Mountain BBQ features the brand’s Extra Crispy chicken tossed in a unique sweet and smoky BBQ sauce. The sauce is derived from a blend of popular barbecue recipes found in Memphis, and North and South Carolina.
The new sauce can be added to Extra Crispy Tenders, Chicken Littles, and Extra Crispy Chicken. Participating test locations will also offer the new flavor with Kentucky Grilled Chicken and Hot Wings.
In addition to Indianapolis, KFC fans in Chicago and Pittsburgh will be able to find new Smoky Mountain BBQ in select locations during the test run.
A decision on taking the dish nationwide will be determined at a later date.
