Leaf officially announced the nostalgic candy’s re-launch at the 2018 Sweet and Snacks Expo in Chicago. The company said it plans to start shipping Bonkers later this summer (July/August) as soon as final packaging details are complete.
Originally made by Nabisco in the 1980s and 1990s until they were discontinued, Bonkers featured a fruity outside with a flavorful fruity center filling. Leaf Brands acquired the Bonkers! trademark in February 2012.
Initial flavors available for the re-launch will include grape, orange, watermelon, lemon-lime and cherry. They’re also teasing with a chewy chocolate flavor.
Bonkers! Fruit Chews will be available at retailers nationwide in six-piece stick packs for a suggested price of $1.49, as well as 3-oz peg bags for $3.99.
