The rescue went down more than a year ago in January 2017, and Jon decided to change the name of Barley Pop’s to The Valley Saloon. Despite the name change, the bar is still largely referred to as Barley Pop’s.
Current records indicate the establishment is owned by Chris Woodbury.
Back in June 2017, “Barley Pop’s” was featured in a local investigative news segment called “Dirty Dining,” where journalists at 13 Action News report on local Las Vegas eateries cited by health inspectors for code violations.
A cockroach infestation also caused closure at Barley Pop’s lounge on Charleston near Pecos.
Inspectors found about 30 roaches concentrated inside a floor drain filled with frothy sludge.
The restaurant was also downgraded to a B after inspectors found a large amount of mold and cotton-like growth on the chili, as well as three week-old taco meat and expired milk.
In recent months, The Valley Saloon appears to have outsourced food services to The Rose Grill, a family owned restaurant that operates within the bar as a separate business entity.
