The regional menu item features the brand’s signature French fries topped with real cheddar cheese sauce and smoked bacon bits.

Cheesy Bacon Fries are available a la carte at prices ranging from $3.50 to $3.75  – depending on your location. They’re also being offered as an upgrade to regular fries in an Extra Value Meal.

Back in 2017, McDonald’s tested a similar shareable product called Loaded Bacon & Cheese Basket of Fries, featuring fries topped with cheddar cheese sauce and applewood-smoked bacon. Cheesy Bacon Fries differ somewhat than their predecessor with smoked bacon bits as opposed to pieces of applewood-smoked bacon used in the larger basket. A subtle difference, but a flavor and texture difference nonetheless.

In fact, Cheesy Bacon Fries appear to be the same Cheese & Bacon Loaded Fries from Australia that were featured at the brand’s global headquarters restaurant in Chicago’s West Loop neighborhood earlier this spring.

Just to be clear, Cheesy Bacon Fries are a regional, limited-time menu item, not a test product.
