More specifically, Jolt’n Joe’s is a sports bar and events venue located in the historic Gaslamp Quarter of downtown San Diego.
Following his dream, owner Phil Paccione opened Jolt’n Joe’s Gaslamp in early 2005. Jolt’n Joe’s was successful for many years up until 2009, when Phil was diagnosed with prostate cancer. That’s when Phill turned to experienced GM Sean Kisner to take the reins, but business has been going downhill ever since, leaving Phil over $1.2 million in debt and losing $10,000 a month.
The rescue took place back in mid-January 2020. As part of the makeover, Jon changed the name of the Jolt’n Joe’s Gaslamp to The Gaslamp Social.
Back in March 2018, a man died at Jolt’n Joe’s after playing what was described as some sort of “punching game” with a friend.
Interestingly enough, Phil opened his first Jolt’n Joe’s in La Mesa, California back in 1996. Jolt’n Joe’s La Mesa closed its doors for the last time back in June 2019, after a 23-year run.
