The “Scary Places” list itself reveals the locations of abandoned burger chain restaurants in Dayton, OH, Houston, TX, Birmingham, AL, McHenry, IL and Johnston, RI. For exact coordinates, fans can visit bk.com/scaryplaces, or follow KFC on their social media channels.

In order to take advantage of the offer, you’ll need to download the BK App and register for an account (if you haven’t already done so). Fans who have push notifications enabled and drive by one of the “Scary Places” on the official list will receive a digital coupon good for one free flame-grilled Whopper Sandwich.

For fans that don’t live near any of the designated “Scary Places,” Burger King is offering a $5 meal deal under the Scary Places tile on the BK App.

The premise of the promotion is that when these abandoned restaurants were open “they did not deliver the beloved flame-grilled taste.” And “On some nights you can even hear the sizzling screams of the flat top.”

Burger King is encouraging fans not to trespass on “private properties” deemed “Scary Places.” Just drive by.
