McDonald’s describes their new McPlant burger as a “delicious plant-based burger crafted for McDonald’s, by McDonald’s, and with the kind of craveable McDonald’s flavor our customers love.”

The burger itself features a plant-based patty served on a warm, sesame seed bun with all the classic burger toppings.

As far as the plant-based patty is concerned, when McDonald’s tested the P.L.T. Burger (Plant. Lettuce. Tomato.) in Canada last year, the patty was supplied by Beyond Meat.

While McDonald’s US is not disclosing the source of their plant-based patty, a spokesperson for Beyond Meat told CNBC that the company co-created the plant-based patty with McDonald’s.

McDonald’s plans to offer the new plant-based burger as part of a larger McPlant line.
