Reddit user This_Drunken_Life was the first to set off alarm bells with the following message on r/bys back in March:

“MY ARBYS DOESNT SELL POTATO CAKES ANYMORE!!!!!?????!!!! PLEASE TELL ME THIS ISNT BECOMING PERMANENT”

CoolDude946 responded on the same day with the following:

“I work there and we were told, potato cakes and loaded fries will go away permanently, and they will be replaced with crinkle fries.”

Meanwhile, today (May 24, 2021) a spokesperson with Arby’s confirmed the rumor to The Takeout – while also offering fans a glimmer of hope:

“Although our Potato Cakes have been discontinued (for now), who’s to say they’re gone forever?”

While Potato Cakes still appear on Arby’s menu at the time of this posting, I would suggest calling ahead to your local Arby’s to confirm availability before going out of your way to satisfy a craving.

Arby’s Potato Cakes feature shredded potato fried to a crispy golden brown.
