Former hotel manager Willie Chandler bought Gilly’s back in 2015. According to WIllie, business was very good for the first two years, bringing in $10,000 to $15,000 per month. However, after the fourth or fifth year of ownership the novelty of being a bar owner wore off and things began to take a turn for the worse.

With the bar now losing between $2,500 and $5,000 a month and Willie $275,000 in debt and less than 60 days from closing the doors for good, Willie decided to put in a call for help to Bar Rescue.

The rescue happened back in early December 2021. As part of the makeover, Jon changed the name of Gilly’s to the Stadium Club Bar & Grill, however, Willie ultimately decided to keep the original Gilly’s name in honor of the bar’s local history.

According to this article published by the Dunwoody Crier last month, Willie had been trying to get on Bar Rescue for five years before finally getting the call.

During his first interview with producers of the show years prior, Willie told the Crier there wasn’t enough drama at the bar to earn them a space on the show. But when Willie was given a second chance, he was ready.

“So, the second time they came, we had a meeting and just made up a whole bunch of stuff,” Chandler laughingly told the Dunwoody Crier.
