Honey Bunchies was born in 2010 when Kendra Bennett’s dad attempted to recreate a recipe that her mom made for him 35 years ago. With no recipe to follow, Kendra’s dad spent 3 months toiling in his kitchen, literally counting peanuts, and logging every variation into his journal until he accidentally created a gourmet honey bar that he named Honey Bunchies. He named his new creation after his nickname for Kendra’s mom, who he calls “Honey Bunchie.”

Kendra’s dad, an ex-fighter pilot in the Air Force, spent the next few years building the Honey Bunchies business on his own. He made the bars, created the packaging, managed the books, knocked on every door with a cash register to see if they would like to sell Honey Bunchies.

As the company grew, Kendra, her brother and mom joined the team. Even her uncle joined in.

Since getting the entire family on board, the company has changed with the times. In 2020 the packaging got a facelift. In 2021 they introduced a second flavor, Coconut Almond. Most recently, in April 2023, the family decided their Gourmet Honey Bars could use a new name, and Honey Bunchies became Bon Bee Honey. They continue to the same original recipe that Kendra’s dad whipped up in the kitchen many years ago.
