Crafted with a blend of cotton candy and dragon fruit flavors, the all-black slush of the Blackout Slush Float symbolizes the temporary darkness during the solar eclipse. Topped with creamy white soft serve and galaxy-themed sprinkles in shades of blue and purple, this cosmic concoction promises to transport customers on a journey through outer space.

Sonic has also teamed up with former NASA astronaut Terry Virts, known for his time aboard the International Space Station, to provide expert tips for enjoying the total solar eclipse. Virts, who has witnessed an eclipse from space, emphasizes the significance of this event, which occurs only once every one to two decades.

As anticipation builds for the eclipse, customers are encouraged to locate their nearest Sonic and secure their complimentary eclipse viewing glasses ahead of time. On April 8, patrons can return to Sonic to savor the Blackout Slush Float while witnessing the celestial event firsthand.

In addition to its celestial-themed offering, Sonic is running a promotion on Crispy Tender Wraps, priced at $1.99 each, available through May 5. These wraps come in two flavors: Hickory BBQ and Cheesy Baja, providing customers with an affordable snack option to complement their Blackout Slush Float experience.

Through the SONIC Limeades for Learning initiative, a portion of sales from drinks, slushes, blasts, and shakes goes toward supporting public education, demonstrating Sonic’s commitment to giving back to the community. Since its inception in 2009, the SONIC Foundation has donated over $27 million to fund local classrooms, making it one of the largest programs supporting public education in the United States.
