Sonic has once again been spotted selling Philly Cheesesteaks at select locations, and this time around they’re offering a “new” Extra-Long Philly Cheesesteak alongside a smaller, 6-inch Philly Cheesesteak.

Story continues below
While the promo material describes the Extra-Long Philly Cheesesteak as new, it appears to be the same Classic Footlong Philly Cheesesteak the chain debuted back in October 2018. This time however, Sonic has added a smaller, 6-inch Philly Cheesesteak option. The spicy version offered last year didn’t make the cut this time around.
Both Philly Cheesesteaks feature grilled steak and onions, topped with melty cheese and mayo in a soft, warm bakery bun.
The Extra-Long Philly Cheesesteak is going for $4.29, while the 6-inch Philly Cheesesteak is priced at $2.79. I’m also told that some locations are offering the 6-inch Philly Cheesesteak with Tots for $2.99 as part of a Carhop Classic combo deal.
Shoutout to RodrickEats for tipping Chew Boom off to the “new” Extra-Long Philly Cheesesteak.
New Big Scoop Cookie Dough Blast & Sundae
Sonic has also been spotted selling a pair of new treats – the Big Scoop Cookie Dough Blast and Big Scoop Cookie Dough Sundae.
The Big Scoop Cookie Dough Sundae has been spotted selling for $2.99, while the Big Scoop Cookie Dough Blast is 50-cents more at $3.49.
When you go to @sonicdrivein specifically for the new “big scoop” cookie dough blast (because you LOVE cookie dough) and the workers think you’re crazy because they have no idea what you’re talking about. It was even being advertised on their menu.??

While not confirmed, I suspect these new items are being offered as part of a limited-time market test. I’ll circle back to this post when and if new information becomes available.
