McDonald’s owner Carroll Oliver shot dead at restaurant in Houston area

Police in the Houston area have identified the victim of a deadly shooting at a McDonald’s in the east Houston area as the 68-year-old franchise owner, Carroll Oliver.

ABC 13 reported Oliver was shot to death at his restaurant Monday morning during his morning money run to the bank.

Houston police told ABC 13 that someone was lying in wait for Oliver when he walked out of the restaurant’s parking lot. Police said Oliver was approached by an SUV in the parking lot when someone in the vehicle attempted to take his money.

According to reports, Oliver was armed and responded to the robbery attempt by pulling his weapon. An occupant of the SUV responded by pulling a gun and shot Oliver.

The suspect or suspects fled the scene.

Houston police said it’s unclear how many people were inside the SUV at the time of the shooting.
