Tim Hortons gets into the plant-based burger game in Canada with the introduction of the new Beyond Burger and new BBQ Beyond Burger at 4,000 participating locations nationwide.
The new Beyond Burger features Beyond Meat’s 100% plant-based patty topped with processed cheese, tomato, shredded lettuce, ketchup, mustard and mayonnaise on a sesame seed bun.
The new BBQ Beyond Burger consists of Beyond Meat’s plant-based patty topped with processed cheese, fresh tomato slices, shredded lettuce, BBQ sauce and mayonnaise.
Both new plant-based burgers carry a suggested price of $5.69 CAD, or about $4.36 USD. Prices and availability may vary.
No word yet on when or if the chain plans to bring Beyond Meat offerings to the menu in the US. However, it is interesting to note that Tim Hortons and Burger King are owned by the same parent company, Restaurant Brands International (RBI). Back in April, Burger King announced it was partnering with Beyond Meat’s plant-based “meat” competitor Impossible Foods to roll out its plant-based Impossible Whopper nationwide by the end of the year.
