According to the episode synopsis, Jon must save a former travel agent turned bar owner and her family business before it crashes and burns.
Husband and wife team Steve and Patti Merkel opened Latitudes Bar & Grill in 2019 with funds Steve earned from the sale of his successful cookie company back in 2005.
But the couple soon realized that the demands of running a bar were more than either of them had imagined. In response, Steve and Patti decided to bring in their son Travis to help manage the bar and ease their burden.
While Travis does a bit of everything, including cooking, cleaning and bartending, he often finds himself butting heads with his controlling mother, who still works at the bar seven days a week.
Steve – a mostly a hands-off owner – has put about $275,000 into Latitudes, while the bar racks up loses of $3,500 a month.
As part of the makeover, which happened back in August 2022, Jon decided to tweak the name of Latitudes Bar & Grill by rebranding it as Latitudes Island Bar & Grill.
