McDonald’s offers fans the perfect delivery system for enjoying the dual layers of chocolate and mint flavors in the new McCafé Chocolate Shamrock Shake with a limited-edition straw designed by a team of aerospace and robotic engineers.

The new Chocolate Shamrock Shake features dual flavor layers, with a chocolate milkshake layer under a layer of McDonald’s traditional mint flavored Shamrock Shake. In order to ensure fans were able to get equal proportions of mint and chocolate in each sip, McDonald’s turned to engineering firms JACE and NK Labs to reengineer the straw.
The new “STRAW,” short for Suction Tube for Reverse Axial Withdrawal features a unique j-shape with five holes strategically placed in the hooked section, including one at the very bottom.
Due to the STRAW’s complex development, and unique design, only 2,000 were produced for Shamrock season. The STRAW will be available at no charge in select markets with the purchase of a Chocolate Shamrock Shake. New Chocolate Shamrock beverage lineup
The Chocolate Shamrock Shake is one of four new mint and chocolate flavored McCafé beverages now available at McDonald’s locations nationwide for a limited time.
- Chocolate Shamrock Shake features vanilla soft serve and chocolate flavored syrup under the original mint flavored Shamrock Shake, finished with green sprinkles, whipped topping, and a cherry.
- Shamrock Chocolate Chip Frappé is made with a blend of chocolate chips and a hint of coffee, topped with green sprinkles, whipped topping, and chocolaty drizzle.
- Shamrock Mocha features a classic Hot Mocha with steamed whole or nonfat milk, mint and mocha flavored syrup, finished with a whipped topping and chocolaty drizzle.
- Shamrock Hot Chocolate features whole or nonfat milk, mint and mocha flavored syrup, finished with a whipped topping and chocolaty drizzle.
