Toronto’s newest restaurant, the Indian Street Food Co. is asking its customers not to leave a tip when paying for their meals.
The owner, Hemant Bhagwani says he pays his serving staff a fair wage and adds a 12 percent administrative charge to every bill. He will also allocate 10 percent of restaurant revenue toward higher wages for all his staff, including the kitchen.
A note inside every menu at the Indian Street Food Co. reads:
“We pay our employees our employees a fair wage, and they share in Indian Street Food Co. profits, so no tipping please.”
